Fun in Big D

My friend and her husband belong to Antique Firetruck Preservation Club. The Club had a meeting in Dallas. I drove up to Dallas to spend the day with them. My friend was excited to take me to the Texas Fire Museum. to see the trucks and enjoy the club's fried chicken dinner. The men were telling me that I can't miss this fantastic fried chicken dinner for $5. I take it they were excited about having an unhealthy chicken dinner because it tastes better than a healthy chicken dinner.

I like this truck. All the shiny chrome has this truck saying "look at me".

My friend is trying to convince me I should take up painting Gold Leafing on fire trucks. I did have a nice small chat with one of the men that does Gold Leafing. He was trying encourage me to take it up because it is fast becoming a lost art. You can see the fantastic gold leafing art work on this fire truck.
This is one of the fire trucks that arrived that will start the restoration process at this museum. There's a lot of work to get this truck back to its original beauty.
This is the replica of the 1963 Dallas Police squad to honor police officer J. D. Tippet who was slain by Lee Harvey Oswald.  Here's a news article about it.
The water pump has an engine but this old fire truck was powered by horses.

Almost like walking through the Reno Auto Museum. Lot of old memories there.

Hi Supi, that looks like a great way to spend some time. The Chicken dinner sounds yummy too!

I think you should try the gold leaf painting too, you're such a good artist, and you could be a great part of history.

Beautiful replicas of cars! Fried chicken sounds finger lickin' good. Gold leaf painting sounds like it could be fun.

Stopsign and Bunni - It is mainly decorative painting brush strokes. I wouldn't mind taking a class with my friend since she was once signed up to take classes but had to cancel out. The ladies at the convention gave me an interesting nickname. I imagining them recommending me....
